The two Triple H members have officially confirmed their relationship because they wanted to be honest with fans: “We got closer while making music together.”
“We have been together for two years,” said Hyuna (26 years old) and PENTAGON’s E’Dawn (real name Kim Hyo-jong, 24 years old), who are currently working together in a mixed project group called Triple H.
“We knew we would be tagged together, but we thought it would be hard to see the fans’ eyes on the stage,” the two idols, who were rumoured to have a romantic relationship in the morning of the same day, explained the reason for the disclosure, “So we just wanted to be honest to our fans who always love us and watch us and show them our confident and happy image on stage.“
It is the first time for Hyuna to have an open relationship since her debut in 2007. The two idols, who are from the same company, have known each other for three years. They got closer in 2015 after E’Dawn, who was still a trainee at the time, replaced BtoB Jung Il-hoon for the rap part of Hyuna’s song “Roll Deep”.
“I have known E’Dawn since he was a trainee and became friends with him when we became colleagues. Then, we started to meet in May 2016,” Hyuna said, “After that, we started dating while working on music. We were very careful with our relationship.”
“We talked a lot about music together and started to make music together,” Hyuna added, “Even when it is not included in the album credit, E’Dawn has done a lot of careful work to help me with my album.”
“We would like to be honest with the people who always show support for our decisions,” said Hyun-ah, who decided to have a public romance. She also added that she wanted to show her best on stage to be responsible for this choice.
E’Dawn said: “The reality is different, but I think I will have to admit it and be happy. I want to say sorry to my fans, but I will make up for them by working hard.“
Hyun Ah first made her debut as a member of Wonder Girls in 2007. Then, she had been working as a member of 4Minute since 2009 and had finally turned into a solo artist, after the disbandment of 4Minute in 2016.
E’Dawn, who made his debut as a PENTAGON member in 2016, is considered a talented idol who can write lyrics and music along with Hui. He also participated in writing a song for Mnet’s Produce 101 Season 2 (“Never”).
They formed a project group called Triple H with PENTAGON‘s Hui last year and released their second album last month. Now, they are promoting the title song “RETRO FUTURE”.
