Another good thing happened to Hyun Bin, drawing fans’ attention.
As of 7 a.m. KST on September 22nd, according to the integrated computer network of the Korea Film Council, the action film “Confidential Assignment 2: International,” starring actors Hyun Bin, Yoo Hae Jin, and Daniel Henney, surpassed 5 million viewers in 16 days after its release. This is faster than the record of 23 days of “Top Gun: Maverick”, which achieved the highest box office record this summer in Korea.
“Confidential Assignment 2: International” is also drawing attention as it is the third Korean film to reach 5 million admissions following the 10-million movies “The Roundup” and “Hansan: Rising Dragon,” which hit the theaters earlier this year. In particular, “Confidential Assignment 2: International” is proving to be a box office trend, beating all new movies, and topping the real-time ticket reservation rate.
“Confidential Assignment 2: International” depicts an exciting story of North Korean detective Lim Chul Ryung (Hyun Bin), South Korean detective Kang Jin Tae (Yoo Hae Jin), and U.S. FBI agent Jack (Daniel Henney) as they conduct a joint investigation to catch a global criminal organization.
Since they have different nationalities, the three with different goals are wary of each other while conducting a confidential cooperative investigation.
“Confidential Assignment 2” has also been receiving positive reviews for its expanded story, pleasant chemistry of actors, and overwhelming sequences. The break-even point for “Confidential Assignment 2” was 3.5 million.
Hyun Bin’s mind is expected to be very comfortable because his movie is receiving much love. The first installation of “Confidential Assignment” drew 7.81 million admissions in 2017. Many film industry officials are paying keen attention to whether the sequel will surpass the reputation of its predecessor.
