Korean singer Hyolyn (29), a former member of the group Sistar, is the center of a debate over her shocking outfit on the stage for the “2018 KBS Drama Awards.”

Hyolyn reportedly appeared on the second part of the 2018 KBS Drama Award held at KBS Hall in Yeouido, Seoul on December 31st. The event, which was held calmly, changed its atmosphere after Hyolyn came on stage.

When Hyolyn threw off her jacket, the monokini-shaped body suit caught the eyes of many people. She then performed her songs, “See sea” and “Dally.” When the music video of “Dally” was released in April, it was banned from people under the age of 19 due to its sensationalism.

Since then, the online community’s opinions have been divided into two sides regarding the clothing and performance that Hyolyn introduced.

“It was a hot stage to boost the fever of the award ceremony at the end of the year,” one netizen said, “She was like the Korean version of pop star Beyonce.”On the other hand, another Internet user said, “It was a terrestrial TV award ceremony that the whole family watched, and it was too embarrassing.”

Previously, a member of the group Mamamoo, Hwasa (24,) also heated up the online community with outfits similar to Hyolyn’s. Hwasa performed a dynamic dance wearing a red body suit at the 2018 Mnet Asian Music Awards in Japan’s Super Arena in December 2018.

I didn’t know there was such boldness in the Hwasa,” said a netizen at the time, “I could see a different charm of hers,” while another netizen debated, “I watched the show with my family and have to turn to other channels because it was too much. Although performing is important, level of exposure needs to be adjusted according to audience range.”
