Korean netizens claim that without the current controversy, the rating of “Snowdrop” would not be able to reach 1%.
Despite severe backlash over the last week, JTBC still decides to continue airing the drama “Snowdrop” as scheduled. This week, 3 episodes are getting broadcast as JTBC’s attempt to prove that “Snowdrop” did not distort history as accused. Unfortunately, despite the efforts of JTBC, “Snowdrop” recorded disappointing results in the latest episode.
According to Nielsen Korea, episode 3 of “Snowdrop” broadcast on December 24 only earned a rating of 1,853% nationwide. This is the lowest rating among dramas that aired last night across all channels. Episode 12 of “Now, We Are Breaking Up” (SBS) had a rating of 5.7%, while episode 13 of “The Red Sleeve” (MBC) recorded an impressive rating of 12.8%, maintaining 1st place in its time slot.
Compared to 2.9% and 3.9% of the first 2 episodes, needless to say, 1.8% is a huge step backwards for “Snowdrop” amid fierce controversy. However, many Korean netizens think that for a drama that distorts history like “Snowdrop”, a rating of 1% is still “too high”. The angry public continues to call for a boycott so that the rating of “Snowdrop” quickly drops to 0% in the upcoming episodes.
