How about you, do you think “Boy With Luv” of BTS featuring Halsey is enough to be nominated at the Grammy?
On Nov 20th, the Grammy officially revealed its nominations this year which, as always, immediately became the main debate topic. What’s worth the notice this year is the lack of nomination for BTS and K-Pop as a whole. Seeming to be extremely upset by the situation, Halsey – the female artist who featured in BTS’s “Boy With Luv”- has expressed her anger on Twitter.
It seems that Halsey is upset because both the track “Boy With Luv” and the Korean boy group’s album doesn’t receive any nomination despite the fact that “Boy With Luv” has reached #8 on the Billboard Hot 100 when their album “Map of the Soul: Persona” crowned the Billboard 200. However, she then expressed that she was not that surprised about this because “the U.S is so far behind on the movement” which is the rise of K-Pop.
However, aside from Halsey’s opinion, many other questions are also raised: is “Boy With Luv” enough to be a Grammy nominee? Obviously, in K-Pop, the track is indeed a milestone. However, in the U.S market, both its sales and performance on charts is not that much of a legend.
Maybe Halsey is being too hot-headed because aside from the Grammys, BTS, BLACKPINK, and many other K-Pop artists have appeared at many big awards in the U.S like American Music Awards, MTV Video Music Awards, E! People’s Choice Awards, Billboard Music Awards…
Halsey then congratulated Billie Eilish to soothe her anger. Halsey doesn’t receive any nomination this year while Billie Eilish has received a total of 6 nominations, 4 of which are the “Big Four”. This is worth all the compliments, especially when Billie is still just an 18-year-old girl.
Controversies and fan wars always happen each year after the Grammy nominations are revealed. Despite the chaos, the awards show still happens every year and still proves itself to be one of the most prestigious music awards with countless audiences.
