Gong Yoo mentioned “Squid Game” as one of the two things he did best this year.
Together with Bae Doona, Lee Joon, Kim Sun-young, etc., Gong Yoo showed enthusiastic performances through “The Silent Sea”, which tells about a group of people leaving for an abandoned research station on the moon when the Earth suffers from a lack of resources. According to Flix Patrol, “The Silent Sea” is drawing keen attention from global viewers as it currently ranks No.3 in Netflix’s TV Show category.
This year, Gong Yoo met audiences all around the world as the ‘slap-match’ man in the hit drama “Squid Game” and as Han Yoon-jae in “The Silent Sea”. In particular, many people have raised expectations to see him in “Squid Game” Seasons 2 and 3.
In response, the actor said, “I don’t know. I’m still contacting director Hwang Dong-hyuk regularly but haven’t heard anything from him”, adding, “During his self-quarantine period after returning from the U.S, he called me. That was the last time he contacted me. I don’t know how ‘Squid Game’ will proceed because he has not contacted me for any specific thing related to that drama. Just like me, he will always look at the scenario before making a decision.”
When asked, “Looking back on this year, what did you do best?”, Gong Yoo smiled and said, “First, I played a cameo to support director Hwang Don-hyuk in ‘Squid Game’. And the second thing is appearing in ‘The Silent Sea’.”
Meanwhile, “The Silent Sea” was released in 190 countries via Netflix on December 24th.
