Gaon Chart publishes the album sales chart of girl groups in 2020, and also predicts the results for 2021!

Gaon Music Chart or Gaon chart is a type of national music chart of Korea, it is similar to Billboard of the USA and Oricon chart of Japan.  Established in 2010, this is considered a very prestigious statistic.

Recently, Gaon Chart released year-end charts for digital sales, physical album sales, and, of course, overall charts based on both of the above data.

According to the published data, BLACKPINK has sold a total of 1.7 million copies in 2020, reaching No. 1 on the physical album sales chart.  The girls also topped two other charts as well.  BLACKPINK’s most-streamed song is “How You Like That”.  IZ * ONE is the runner-up in physical album sales, which is different from the previous report of the Hanteo chart.

Kim Jin Woo from the Gaon chart predicted, “By 2021, BLACKPINK will continue to dominate the girl group market, while IZ * ONE is expected to grow further if their group contract is renewed.  Oh My Girl has left a lasting impression in 2020 so they will comfortably become one of the top 5 girl groups by 2021 if their fandom continues to grow.”
