An “adult scene” between a K-drama couple with a 26 years of age difference has drawn explosive responses.
Currently in its 4th week, Kim Seo Hyung’s latest drama, “Pale Moon”, has seen a significant growth in ratings after initially dropping to an all-time low viewership of 0.9% in the third week. The recent episodes recorded a rating of 1.3%, which is so far the highest for the entire series.
After the latest episodes aired, South Korean social media was abuzz with discussions about the intimate scenes between leading cast members Kim Seo Hyung and Lee Si Woo. In the show, the two play a couple who have an affair together, despite their significant age gap.
In particular, Kim Seo Hyung assumes the role of Yoo I Hwa, a woman exhausted by her family life and a controlling husband, while Lee Si Woo plays Yoon Min Jae, a young artist who changes Yi Hwa’s mundane, stifling life.
The change in the relationship of the lead couple in “Pale Moon” has contributed to the growth in ratings. Additionally, the drama has been trending on South Korean social media, surpassing other popular series to rank second in the brand reputation ranking chart for the last week of April, only behind the JTBC drama “Doctor Cha”.
At the same time, viewers have praised the performances of the lead actors, particularly expressing surprise at Lee Si Woo’s performance, despite acting alongside a co-star 26 years older. The chemistry between the two has led viewers to describe them as an “insanely convincing couple.”
Meanwhile, some viewers have compared “Pale Moon” to “Secret Love Affair”, which explores the same time. It is known that “Secret Love Affair” female lead, Kim Hee Ae, is 21 years older than her co-star Yoo Ah In.
On the other hand, “Pale Moon” was recently screened at the Cannes Film Festival (TV series category), with Kim Seo Hyung drawing attention when she appeared at the Canneseries event to promote her work.
