Former F.T.Island member Choi Jong-hoon to be released from prison today

Singer Choi Jong-hoon will be released from prison today (Nov 8th).

Choi Jong-hoon, who was imprisoned on charges of violating the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Violence Crimes (special level rape) in May 2019, will be released from prison today (Nov 8th) after serving two years and six months in prison.

Choi Jung-hoon, Jung Joon-young, former Burning Sun MD Kim, office worker Kwon and Huh – a former employee of an entertainment agency – were accused of gang rape and illegally filming women in January and March 2016.

Choi Jong-hoon, who allegedly drank alcohol at the time, was sentenced to five years in prison by the court. However, considering the agreement with the victim, his sentence was reduced to two years and six months in prison. He was also sentenced to one year in prison and two years of probation for expressing his intention to offer a bribe to a public official and spreading illegal footage. In response, both Choi Jong-hoon and the prosecution appealed, but the court dismissed it.

Meanwhile, Jung Joon-young, who was handed over to trial together with Choi Jong-hoon, was sentenced to five years in prison.
