Forbes Korea reveals the Top 10 highest earning YouTube channels of Kpop artists: BTS and BLACKPINK compete for 1st place

On August 30, Forbes Korea revealed the ranking of “2021 Korea’s powerful YouTubers: The list of the highest-earning celebrities on YouTube throughout the year”. In which, 10 Kpop artists are named. The amount of money they are making from YouTube has surprised netizens.

10. TOMORROW x TOGETHER Official

BTS‘s younger brother” TXT excellently entered the top 10 final, “surpassing” popular groups such as NCT and Red Velvet. TXT’s YouTube channel (TOMORROW x TOGETHER OFFICIAL) has 7.54 million subscribers with a total of 465.2 million views across 752 videos. Accordingly, this channel brought in an estimated income of 1.14 billion KRW (about 981,000 USD) in the past year.

Despite being a rookie, aespa has proved their power on different platforms, from digital music to YouTube views. Aespa‘s YouTube channel (aespa) has 2.35 million subscribers with a total of 281.1 million views across 60 videos. This is an impressive number, proving the increasing popularity of aespa after their debut with Black Mamba and only 2 comebacks with Forever and Next Level. According to Forbes Korea, the SM rookie’s channel brought in an estimated income of 1.44 billion KRW (about 1.24 million USD) over the past year.

8. IU Official

As the only female solo artist to make it to the top 10, IU once again proves her leading position in the K-pop industry. IU’s YouTube channel (IU Official) has 6.69 million subscribers with a total of 950.8 million views across 125 videos. According to Forbes, IU has earned an estimated 1.56 billion won (about 1.34 million USD) over the past year thanks to her own YouTube channel.

Despite being active since 2012 and having only 199 videos on their YouTube channel, EXO has recorded 8.3 million subscribers with a total of 471.3 million views. The YouTube channel of the SM boy group brought in an income of about 1.69 billion won (equivalent to 1.45 million USD) in 2021.

MAMAMOO is famous for their talents, the ability to nail every concept, so the quality of the girls’ music and style of every comeback always impresses the fans.  MAMAMOO’s YouTube channel gains 6.07 million subscribers with a total of 1.632 billion views across 604 videos. These numbers have brought the girls an estimated income of 1.69 billion won (about 1.45 million USD).

Working as a solo artist after leaving GOT7 and JYP Entertainment, Bambam still manages to prove his popularity when entering the top 5 finalists on this Youtube ranking. The Thai idol’s YouTube channel has 1.07 million subscribers with a total of 75 million views across 72 videos. Notably, on June 15, Bambam released the riBBon MV that officially marked his solo debut and quickly achieved 56.7 million views (as of August 31). Forbes revealed that Bambam’s YouTube channel brought in an estimated 1.69 billion won (about $1.45 million) in earnings over the past year.

4. SEVENTEEN

SEVENTEEN is one of the most popular Kpop boy groups at the moment. SEVENTEEN’s YouTube channel has 6.85 million subscribers with a total of 2.147 billion views across 880 videos. With these amazing numbers, SEVENTEEN channel brought in an estimated income of 1.92 billion won (about 1.65 million USD) in 2021.

NCT DREAM’s YouTube channel has 3.94 million subscribers with a total of 393.2 million views across 233 videos. According to Forbes Korea, the channel brought in an estimated 2.10 billion won (about 1.81 million USD) in income over the past year.

2. BLACKPINK

Since their debut with the billion-view MV Boombayah, BLACKPINK has always proven themselves to be the representative Kpop girl group on YouTube. Not only music videos, the performance stages and dance practice videos of YG’s “golden girls” also recorded the milestone of hundreds of millions of views within a short time. Specifically, the YouTube channel of BLACKPINK (BLACKPINK) has 64.5 million subscribers with a total of 19 billion views across 372 videos. According to Forbes Korea, this channel brought in an estimated earning of 13.5 billion won (about 11.6 million USD) over the past year.

With a large number of videos, BTS‘ YouTube channel (BANGTANTV) has 57 million subscribers and 12 billion views across 1,586 videos. The YouTube channel of the 7 male idols brought in an income of 19.1 billion won (about 16.4 million USD) in the past year.
