Recently, a rumor surfaced on Korean social media that Song Hye Kyo was originally not the first choice for the female lead in the drama Now, We Are Breaking Up.
Scheduled to broadcast this November, Now, We Are Breaking Up starring Song Hye Kyo and Jang Ki Yong has basically completed the pre-production and post-production stages and is in the promotion phase. While the first official images began to be released by the crew, a rumor has unexpectedly been spread on Korean social media that the female lead role in the drama was originally not meant for Song Hye Kyo.
Since the drama was announced, many netizens have assumed that the female lead in the drama was inspired by Song Hye Kyo herself based on the title Now, We Are Breaking Up. However, recently on Korean social networks, rumors have sparked that it was not the original intention of the company Samwha to cast Song Hye Kyo for the female lead of Now, We Are Breaking Up, but another equally popular actress. However, because of the difficult situation of the pandemic, the other actress turned down the offer at the last minute. Therefore, Samwha decided to offer the role to Song Hye Kyo and she accepted.
In response to this rumor, many viewers expressed their displeasure, claiming that Samwha was being disrespectful to Song Hye Kyo and only considered her as a backup plan. However, objectively speaking, the producers always have their own plans in picking actors and for each storyline, they certainly have many options to choose from. The only thing viewers need to be concerned about is whether or not Song Hye Kyo is suitable for the role and how her chemistry with Jang Ki Yong turns out to be once the drama is on air.
Now, We Are Breaking Up talks about the emotional love stories that end up in tearful breakups. In the drama, Song Hye Kyo plays Ha Young Eun, manager of a famous fashion brand’s design team. Jang Ki Yong plays the male lead Yoon Jae Guk, a freelance photographer, who is rich and famous.
The drama is scheduled to broadcast on SBS this November, after One The Woman ends.
