It has been 330 days since the last comeback of the rookie boy group from YG, but until now, the hubaes (juniors) of BLACKPINK have not released a new music product.
At the debute stage, K-pop groups are often extremely busy with promotional schedules. They also continuously make comebacks and carry out many other activities to attract fans and put their faces and names into the public’s memory. This was a crucial time as countless subsequent successes can be built on their initial reputation. However, TREASURE, YG Entertainment’s new boy group, has been in hiatus for nearly a year, making fans extremely confused.
TREASURE debuted on August 7, 2020 with the single album “The First Step: Chapter One” and MV “BOY.” Initially, the group was also active like many other colleagues when releasing the second product called “The First Step: Chapter Two” on September 18, more than a month after their debut. On November 6 of the same year, they quickly released their third album, “The First Step: Chapter Three.”
TREASURE worked so hard that they released their first full album “The First Step: Treasure Effect” right at the beginning of 2021 (January 11). Many thought that the group would continue to release music regularly, but it was unexpectedly their last comeback up to this point. Almost a year has passed, but the juniors of BLACKPINK have not released any new songs yet.
The fact that TREASURE hasn’t come back for nearly a year has become a topic of discussion among Kpop fans, through which they express their disappointment at the lack of products created by the group. Fans do not blame the boys, instead, they blame YG, which has a tradition of “abandoning” its artists in a “treasure chest”.
BLACKPINK is a prime example of a group with very few comebacks. Initially, the 4 girls regularly make a comeback. However, they have not released any music for more than 1 year despite being extremely popular.
WINNER was also in a similar situation when they first debuted. In August 2014, the group released their first album titled “2014 S/S.” But it took nearly a year and a half after they released their second album, “EXIT : E” (February 2016). Some fans believe that this has greatly hindered WINNER‘s success, even though the group has talented members.
As for TREASURE, although there have been many rumors about their comeback in the past, none of the information has come true. It seems that it will not be until 2022 that the YG rookie will release new products. Although part of the reason may come from the fact that some members were infected with the virus this year, it is strange for a group to have not come back for 330 days (up to now).

– I don’t understand, because YG promotes TREASURE in a traditional way, as a boy group with loads of content and a huge fanbase. If they wanted to benefit from both sides, when it was impossible. You can’t promote TREASURE like a normal boygroup and then rarely give them music to release. It’s so weird.
– Remember that TREASURE’s debut took place a few years after their originally scheduled debut time. I wonder when we’ll get to see the girl group they’ve been promising for 2 years.
TREASURE does not release new music, but they are still working hard to create content for fans, such as the web drama “The Mysterious Class.” However, fans still hope that the YG rookie group will come back as soon as possible. Especially, as the competition between Gen 4 groups is getting increasingly fierce, it will be difficult for them to keep their populairty if they do not release music regularly.
