Famous Big Hit trainee Leo, who appears in BTS’s MV, comes under controversy for misogynistic rap lyrics

One of Big Hit’s famous male trainees from ‘Trainee A’ is drawing criticism for inappropriate self-written lyrics.

Big Hit fans are all familiar with ‘Trainee A‘ – a pre-debut group of male trainees. Although Big Hit has never confirmed the debut of this team of trainees, their official Youtube, Instagram and Tik Tok accounts were soon launched. Through these channels, the trainees often post vlogs about their daily lives such as practicing dancing, singing, and studying. ‘Trainee A” Instagram is also followed by many Big Hit producers, including Bang Shi Hyuk.

Among the members of ‘Trainee A’, Leo is the most outstanding one. He was born in 2002 and comes from Australia. He exudes a charming aura when performing on stage and has good singing, rapping, dancing, and composing skills. This is also probably the reason why Big Hit seems to have the intention to push Leo the most. The first video posted on ‘Trainee A’ channel is Leo’s Vlog. The male trainee was also featured in ‘Permission to Dance’ MV of BTS.

Leo is always considered an ACE if Big Hit launches a new boy group, but recently the male trainee was suddenly involved in a personality scandal.  Accordingly, in a rap battle video under ‘SHOWDOWN’ (where trainees from HYBE labels compete against each other), Leo caused controversy when he performed a rap with obscene words expressing hatred and contempt for women.

Leo’s rap part is controversial because the lyrics are crude and offensive to women

This rap has lines like: ‘Fu** that ho* in my bank, yeah that ho* stopped breathing. Ain’t nobody gon tell me why that bi*** stopped breathing.’ Notably, Leo also shared that he was the one who wrote these lyrics.  That’s why the male trainee caused a great controversy on social networks and many netizens expressed disappointment in him.

Leo himself is also concerned about his lyrics and shared that he wanted to emphasize the vibe of the performance more than the lyrics

Reacting to this situation, many Leo’s fans are also confused. They acknowledge that these lyrics are meaningless and were written only to showcase the raw vibe that many rappers have done before, however, Leo’s action is still unacceptable. Aside from that, many international K-Pop fans have started to swarm the video with criticism towards the trainee, saying, “He should stay away from women,” “If he writes such lyrics when he is mad, it’s enough to understand how trashy his personality is,” “Big Hit! Don’t let him debut!” “Talented but a trashy human being,” “He is already 19 years old and still thinks that writing such lyrics will make him look cool?”

Leo’s personality is now a debatable topic due to his controversial lyrics

There are still many other opinions that are less harsh, but still, many are disappointed in Leo: “In Shodown, Leo is very talented, but he shouldn’t have tried to showcase his skills with such lyrics,” “Still don’t understand the meanings of these words but I think this guy is only trying to use such profanities to look cool,” “He will be debuting as an idol soon, should have been more careful,” “Big Hit doesn’t even check its content before uploading?” “Underground rappers use lyrics like this a lot but an idol rapper shouldn’t do this…”
