Getting angry at how unfairly SM treated their idols in promoting the new album, EXO fans have massively raised their voices on SNS.
Recently, EXO has officially announced their comeback album “Don’t Mess Up My Tempo”, which will be released on November 2nd. However, EXO-L (EXO’s fandom) got angry with SM because the company only took advantage of EXO’s name to earn money and treat their idols harshly.
In particular, apart from releasing a teaser video for “Don’t Mess Up My Tempo”, SM did not have any other promotion. EXO comeback showcase tickets were sold by SM a month ago but recently, the company announced that fans have to buy a phone that EXO is the brand representative to qualify for the event.
On this occasion, fans continue to dig up how SM maltreated their idols in the past as releasing dance practice videos for two songs “Kokopop” and “Power” one year later. In addition, SM also rarely updates information about EXO on the company’s official SNS accounts such as Instagram, Twitter or Facebook.
Although EXO will come back with the album “Don’t Mess Up My Tempo”, EXO-Ls were upset by SM’s lack of professionalism.
Most fans said that the main reason for many people to leave the fandom of EXO is due to SM’s lack of professional work for their artists. On many big Kpop forums in Korea, EXO-Ls left a lot of comments expressing their anger and demanding rights for the EXO boys.
“Whenever I read news saying EXO got benefits from SM because it was a Big3 company, I was embarrassed. This is the first time there has been a company burying their artists’ future.”
“It’s clear that SM treated EXO unfairly, but being a fan of the group, I feel that with the money that EXO earns, the group should be treated as the key elements of the company. However, EXO is only treated like normal groups … I have just heard of EXO’s comeback because the fans of the group share the logo but there has been no news at all.”
“SM is trying to take advantage of the showcase to strengthen their cooperation with Samsung9, but there is no official announcement of this.”
“But for EXO, that company would have become SM-of-the-old-days.”
