“Insider” heralded the birth of a different level of action suspense.
JTBC’s new Wednesday-Thursday drama “Insider” (directed by Min Yeon-hong, written by Moon Man-se, produced by Ace Factory and SLL), which is scheduled to air in June, released the first teaser video on April 29th. Kang Ha-neul‘s intense transformation, which captivates viewers with just a short video, stimulates anticipation.
“Insider” is an action suspense drama about Kim Yo-han (Kang Ha-neul), a judicial trainee who experiences a crisis while undercover for an investigation of a corrupt prosecutor and ends up struggling to obtain a hand of cards that will change his fate. While in prison, he begins to plot revenge for the betrayal he has experienced. Director Min Yeon-hong, who proved delicate directing skills in “Missing: The Other Side” and writer Moon Man-se, who showed sensuous writing skills through “Priest”, worked together. Above all, people are focusing on the synergy of trustworthy actors such as Kang Ha-neul, Lee Yoo-young and Heo Sung-tae.
Meanwhile, the first teaser video begins with Kim Yo-han, who has just entered Seongju Prison. Kim Yo-han was arrested for gambling ahead of his graduation from the Judicial Research and Training Institute. His poker face is significant as he plays with prisoners without letting go of playing cards in his hands even though he is wearing a prison uniform. All of this is just acting, and his true identity is an “insider” who infiltrated after traces of corrupt prosecutors.
However, his fate is overturned in an unexpected place. Contrary to the boss’ words “You just have to go in for a while”, it is chaos that awaits him at Seongju Prison, where neither principle nor common sense works. Kim Yo-han is deprived of his fate and becomes “a bad guy to catch bad guys” amid a tough fight to take the lead. It stimulates curiosity about whether he will be able to be a real “insider” who takes over the lawless zone called Seongju Prison. Yoon Byung-wook (Heo Sung-tae), who exudes a frightening aura, and Oh Soo-yeon (Lee Yoo-young), his mysterious assistant. Viewers are paying attention to how Kim Yo-han, who started a game that risked his life in the abyss of desire where friend and foe, truth and justice are overthrown, will overturn the board.
Kang Ha-neul plays Kim Yo-han, a senior judicial trainee whose fate has changed due to an undercover investigation. He infiltrates the gambling place to catch the weaknesses of corrupt prosecutors, gets caught up in an unexpected incident, enters the prison and begins a survival quest for revenge. Expectations are focused on the performance of Kang Ha-neul, who will show unlimited transformation by depicting Kim Yo-han‘s terrible struggle. Lee Yoo-young, who has been loved for her unique vivid color, plays Oh Soo-yeon, a successful businesswoman who hides a sharp knife under her gentle smile. Her beauty is a gun, her brain is a sword and she knows how to overpower opponents. Recognizing Kim Yo-han’s extraordinariness at a glance, she picks Kim Yo-han with her “sword”.
