Director Kwon Soon Wook, BoA’s older brother, passed away at 39 after battling peritoneal cancer

Singer BoA’s brother, director Kwon Soon Wook, has passed away after a long battle with cancer at the age of 39.

Director Kwon Soon Wook has passed away today September 5th. The family announced that his funeral will be held quietly with relatives due to the influence of Corona 19.

Director Kwon Soon Wook shared in May that he was diagnosed with terminal cancer. He revealed his diagnosis was “intraperitoneal cancer and stage 4 cancer due to metastasis”, and said he lost weight to 36 kg in two months after not eating due to bowel obstruction. Later, Kwon Soon Wook expressed gratitude to those who had supported him “Thank you for your help… I’ve acquired a lot of energy as a result of this, and while the therapy is incredibly painful, I’ll try my best to bear it with this vitality. Thank you so much.”

Kwon Soon Wook, also BoA‘s brother, debuted in 2005 with Poppin Hyunjun’s “Lion” music video. He then worked on videos for various singers such as Girl’s Day, Seo In Young, Baek Ah Yeon, Lee Ji Hye, Red Velvet, and MC The Max.
