DC Inside Hip-hop Gallery posted a statement to demand rapper NO:EL’s withdrawal from the hip-hop world

During the probation period, the rapper was caught causing an accident while driving without a license and under the influence of alcohol.

While being investigated by the police, rapper Jang Young Jun (21 years old, stage name NO:EL), son of the Member of National Assembly Jang Je Won, refused to comply with the sobriety test and performing violence on a police officer. After conducting some additional investigations on the references, such as people related to the case, the police will summon Jang Young Jun.

According to reports from the police on September 20, the Seocho Police Station in Seoul is investigating Jang Young Jun on charges of unlicensed driving, refusing to comply with a special request on the testing of drunk driving, and obstructing official duty under the Road Traffic Act.

While NO:EL is planned to be summoned for investigation on charges of unlicensed driving and assaulting a police officer, the community of hip-hop fans issued a statement demanding his retirement.

On the morning of September 20, a statement was posted on DC Inside Hip-hop Gallery mentioning the case of rapper NO:EL. In the statement, the community of hip-hop fans stated, “Rapper NO:EL is a hip-hop artist who stood out on various rap audition programs and has been loved by many fans. He is also known for his ability to perform many genres with unlimited styles”

They added, “However, fans have been greatly disappointed by NO:EL’s two accidents of drunk driving, and we think he has stained the reputation of the hip-hop world. In response, the hip-hop gallery agreed that we could no longer allow NO:EL to destroy the spirit of hip-hop. Therefore, we hope that rapper NO:EL will withdraw from the hip-hop world himself. In the future, we hope that the investigative and judicial agencies will punish him in accordance with laws and principles”.

On September 18, Jang Young Jun had an accident with another car while driving a Mercedes-Benz in Banpo-dong, Seocho-gu, Seoul, at around 10:30 PM. It was confirmed that he caused the accident while driving without a license during his probation period.

The police officer who witnessed the accident while he was patrolling this area demanded a sobriety test and an identity verification. However, Jang Young Jun refused to do so for more than 30 minutes, and he also pushed the police officer.

Therefore, Jang Young Jun was accused of hitting the police on the head while being arrested as the offender at the accident scene. It is known that the police officer that Jang Young Jun assaulted was not seriously injured.

After investigated the driver who had a collision with Jang Young Jun and the police who was hit by the rapper, the police have planned to ask Jang Young Jun to attend the investigation.

Earlier, at the time of the accident, the police returned the rapper home after completing the first investigation. In addition, it was reported that the police had already attempted to secure a video containing the crime scene.

Meanwhile, Jang was charged with swapping the driver after causing a car accident due to drunk driving in Mapo-gu, Seoul, in September 2019. He was then sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison and 2 years probation.

In February, he was also sent to the prosecution on the charge of swearing and assaulting a pedestrian in Busan. However, in April, the prosecution issued a disposition and stated that they did not have the right to prosecute him.
