Current whereabouts the K-drama actress who once wrote a letter to the director for casting
From a rookie actress to landing a lead role, here’s the latest update on Gong Seung Yeon’s career.
Gong Seung Yeon is set to take the lead role in the upcoming drama “I Will Travel For You.” The drama is based on a Japanese novel and will showcase beautiful travel destinations and heartwarming stories.
The main character of “I Will Travel For You”, a former girl group member turned travel reporter, will embark on a journey that leads to self-discovery and finding the true meaning of success.
Gong Seung Yeon has already proven her acting prowess in various dramas. Last year, she played the role of Song Seol in SBS’s “The First Responders” and expressed delicate emotions by portraying a character with the meticulousness for patients and the strength to be dispatched without hesitation to rescue people.
However, Gong Seung Yeon’s journey to become a successful actress was not easy.
Gong Seung Yeon began her career as an actress in 2012 when she appeared as a minor character in “I Love Lee Taly.” Later, in 2015, she made her face known by appearing in the drama “Heard It Through the Grapevine.”
In an interview after the end of “Heard It Through the Grapevine,” she shared her audition story. Gong Seung Yeon, who went to several casting auditions, said, “I couldn’t say everything I wanted to say during the auditions. I usually only acted on the script given, so I wrote a letter.”
Because she was unable to fully express herself during the audition, Gong Seung Yeon decided to write a letter to the director instead. In the letter, she expressed her admiration for his previous works and her eagerness to work with him.
Her sincerity and determination caught the director’s attention, and she was eventually cast for the role. “Heard It Through the Grapevine” director Ahn Pan Seok said he thought Gong Seung Yeon suited the role because she did not act pretty when speaking.
Since then, Gong Seung Yeon has continuously honed her skills and landed significant roles in various dramas such as “The Master of Revenge,” “Six Flying Dragons,” “Introverted Boss,” “Circle,” and “Bulgasal.”
Gong Seung Yeon is expected to begin filming “I Will Travel For You” soon. In addition, the highly-anticipated second season of “The First Responders” is set to air in the latter half of this year.
Gong Seung Yeon’s journey to stardom is a testament to her dedication and talent. Fans eagerly await her future projects and look forward to seeing her in more challenging and diverse roles.
