Critic Kim Gap-soo on Nam Joo-hyuk’s bully allegation, “Only puperty and a growing up process”

Poet and critic Kim Gap-soo expressed his view that actor Nam Joo-hyuk’s controversy over school violence is “part of the process of growing up.”

Kim Gap-soo pointed out on the podcast “Jung Young-jin and Choi Wook’s Maebul Show” on July 11th, referring to the controversy over Nam Joo-hyuk‘s school violence allegation, “An actor should only be evaluated on his acting only.”

As the waves of allegations of celebrities being school bullies continues to repeat, it could be for personal revenge purposes. Isn’t it natural for someone to have conflicts in life,” he said. “In my school days, there are some nerds and some roughs. (Even if Nam Joo-hyuk’s suspicions are true), it’s very normal.

Why are you so obsessed with his personality? You can look at the acting skills of an actor. I don’t understand (it doesn’t make sense) to criticize someone when things aren’t even clear.”

When asked, “Isn’t school violence a simple growth process?” he said, “It is true that punishment for school violence should be strengthened,” but added, “The victims who revealed Nam Joo-hyuk’s school violence past are still unable to sleep, taking psychiatric drugs, and suffering from obsessive and neuroticism, but these could be many mixed exaggerations.

Kim Gap-soo stressed, “All lawsuits should be fair, but there is a problem with the appearance of one becoming a devil and one becoming a good and unfortunate victim.

He said, “Nam Joo-hyukcan be a little bit cocky, bust he is talented, and hard-working. Who can survive if you put such harsh standards on a celebrity like that, he said. “It’s not like Nam Joo-hyuk went to juvenile detention center or was expelled from school. Even if the allegations are true, the victim is not very pitiful or so,” he said.

Nam Joo-hyuk is suspected of committing school violence against his classmates during his old school days. On June 20th, a media outlet reported that it received a report on Nam Joo-hyuk’s school violence.

In response, Nam Joo-hyuk took legal actions, calling the report “groundless.” However, another victim appeared on June 28th and is engaged in a battle for the truth.
