TWICE now passed their prime? New title exits Melon’s TOP 100 chart within 1 day of release

On March 10th, TWICE made their comeback by releasing the 12th mini album “READY TO BE”. Prior to the album release, TWICE introduced the English single “MOONLIGHT SUNRISE”, and on the day of the release, they released all the tracks, including the title “SET ME FREE”, “GOT THE THRILLS”, “BLAME IT ON ME”, “WALLFLOWER”, “CRAZY STUPID LOVE”, and the English version of the title song.

“READY TO BE” conveys TWICE’s strong determination to break free from the world’s gaze and prejudices as well as be ready to embrace their true selves. Through the title track “SET ME FREE”, composed of a groovy bassline and simple yet powerful sound, the girls delivers a progressive message that they will do anything to protect the feeling of love that reminds them of their hidden selves.

Many people expected that TWICE, known as a representative 3rd-generation girl group, would gain impressive achievements with this comeback. However, a somewhat unexpected result was recently reported.

The title track “SET ME FREE” ranked 83rd place on Melon Daily Chart the day it was released, but dropped to 101st place the next day. “SET ME FREE” and the other b-side tracks can’t even enter the TOP 100 chart.

It is quite surprising that TWICE’s title track dropped out of TOP 100 chart just a day after its release. This poor result drew great disappointment from netizens. Some comments suggested that it might be because the group has passed their heyday.

Despite the poor digital performance, the album “READY TO BE” topped ranking Hanteo Chart’s Daily Album Ranking and the Circle Chart’s Retail Album Ranking on the 10th.

“SET ME FREE” music video also held the No.1 spot on YouTube’s music video trending chart worldwide for three consecutive days from the afternoon of its release until March 12th.

Since TWICE’s debut in 2015, the girl group has achieved numerous No.1 hits, including “TT”, “SIGNAL”, “KNOCK KNOCK”, “Heart Shaker”, and “YES or YES”. Recently becoming the first K-pop girl group to win the Breakthrough Artist at the 2023 Billboard Women In Music Awards, TWICE proved that their influence is still significant and

In fact, TWICE’s comeback song is expected to climb backwards on music charts through the girls’ upcoming comeback promotional activities. Attention is focused on whether TWICE can show their power as a representative K-pop girl group.
