Singer Goo Hara’s ex-boyfriend Choi Jong-beom, who is accused of violating the Act on Special Cases concerning the Punishment of Sexual Violence Crimes, Injury, Threats and Coercion, appeared at the Seoul Central District Court on the afternoon of the 30th in order to attend the second trial of a lawsuit for damages he filed against 9 netizens, who made malicious comments on a post containing Choi Jong-beom’s identity.

In March, Choi Jong-beom filed a claim for damages against netizens commenting critically on him, and at that time, he partially won the case. The court ruled that one out of six commenters should pay 300,000 won to Choi. 

However, Choi Jong-beom’s claims against the remaining five were dismissed. According to the legal circles on the 1st, the chief judge Jang Chan of the 37th Civil Affairs trial of the Seoul Central District Court explained, “Each comment on the incident contained some words that can be viewed as curses or flouts, but the level of expression wasn’t that high.”
