Fans are wondering what would happen when the 2 most famous KPOP groups join the same company.
On October 22nd, it was officially confirmed that BTS would not re-sign with Columbia Records, the music label owned by Sony that was in charge of promoting BTS in the U.S. Moreover, BTS also announced that they would soon become an artist under Universal Music Group (UMG).
HYBE has not revealed which company of UMG that BTS will sign to. However, many people have suspected that it would be Interscope Records since the CEO of this label and CEO Bang Shi-hyuk have a close relationship. Moreover, there are also rumors saying both sides are currently discussing a contract.
If the partnership between BTS and Interscope comes true, this boy group will become an artist under the same company with BLACKPINK in the U.S. It is known that this YG girl group has signed with this label ever since 2018. Twice also signed to UMG but is managed by a different label – Republic Records.
The public’s attention is focusing on whether the 2 top KPOP groups will become “one family” under the same U.S music label. Since BTS and BLACKPINK have always been compared to each other as rivals, if there is any difference in the promotional plan for these 2 groups in the U.S market, the fandom fight would become much more intense.
