BTS was removed from the credit for Savage Love, causing fans to panic. Dynamite started dropping on the Billboard Hot 100?

BTS fans start to panic when Billboard seems to forget to write the group’s name in the credit of Savage Love

This week’s Billboard Hot 100 chart records huge fluctuations: Mood (24kGoldn ft. Iann dior) rises to No. 1, from No. 4, Dynamite dropped to No. 5 from No. 2. However, in just nearly 2 months since its release, it has been a miracle that Dynamite is still in the top 5. Previously, the latest BTS hit had 3 weeks at # 1 and 3 weeks at # 2 on Billboard Hot 100, still an extremely impressive achievement for the Big Hit group.

Besides, it can be seen that the song “Savage Love”, from No. 1 last week, falls to No. 6 on the Hot 100. ARMYs are shocked when the credit for Savage Love only lists the names of Jawsh 685 and Jason Derulo. BTS is now not listed as a credited act on the song on the chart.

Many ARMY get angry and criticize Billboard. They believe that this chart deliberately remove BTS’s name, not recognizing the group’s dedication in the Savage Love remix version. But that is because a part of BTS fans still do not fully understand the Billboard system. Billboard neither forgets nor refuses to recognize Big Hit’s boygroup, so ARMY should not be too worried. This is the rule of this music chart in order to avoid the case that many different remixes of a song enter the Billboard Hot 100, not referring to the original music product.According to this rule, the achievements of the remixes when released will be added to the original, contributing to increasing the overall index for a song in terms of total streams, total sales,…

This is also the way that Big Hit used Dynamite to reach # 1 for 3 weeks: releasing 9 different remix versions but total streaming and sales are added to the original. Thus, because the original version of Savage Love (the version without BTS) has better performance (streaming, radio, …) than the mix (with the presence of BTS). So as a rule, Billboard chooses the version with the highest score to calculate this week’s ranking on the chart. We can understand: this week, the original Savage Love had a higher score than the one that BTS contributed, so Billboard took the above action. Similar to the previous week: in the first week of the version featuring BTS, fans listened many times and bought a lot of discs, resulting in high performance of the newly released mix (especially in the digital sales segment – the strength of Kpop fans). The achievement of remix version (feat BTS) was higher than the original, so Billboard chose that version to honor on the Billboard Hot 100.

It should be emphasized that even though BTS is not listed as a credited act this week, they are still recognized as # 1 on Billboard Hot 100. BTS still officially has two # 1 songs on Billboard Hot 100, Dynamite and Savage Love.

Some specific examples: “Bad guy” (Billie Eilish) had risen to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, but the credit only went to the female singer without the name of Justin Bieber, although in that week, the male singer released the remix version of “Bad guy”. The reason is because the remix of Justin Bieber and Billie Eilish had a lower score than the original version. In this case, only Billie Eilish got # 1 while Justin Bieber didn’t.

In another case, “Old Town Road” set a record of 19 consecutive weeks at # 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, of which the credit belonged to the original version (only Lil Nas X) in the first week, the following 18 weeks were recorded for remixes by Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus. Many other remixes combining with Diplo, RM, Diplo, Young Thug, Mason Ramsey, although contributing to the increase in total streaming and digital sales, were not credited at # 1 because they had lower scores than the remix version of Billy Ray Cyrus. With “Old Town Road”, only Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus got # 1 while Diplo, R.M, Young Thug, Mason Ramsey didn’t, even they had combined versions.
