‘The first K-pop singer’ BTS Jungkook decorates the Qatar World Cup opening ceremony… Passionate ‘Dreamers’

BTS’s Jungkook shone at the opening ceremony of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

On the afternoon of the 20th (Korean time), Jungkook stood on the stage for the opening ceremony of the Qatar World Cup held at the Albaite Stadium in Alcor, Qatar.

Jungkook sang ‘Dreamers’, the official soundtrack of the tournament, with Qatari singer and 2022 Qatar World Cup ambassador, Fahad Al-Qubaish.

This is the first time that a K-pop artist has performed and participated in the OST at a World Cup opening ceremony hosted by another country.

‘Dreamers’, performed by Jungkook, is a song with the theme of paying tribute to those who have the courage to dream, ‘We achieve it because we believe in it. It contains hopeful content for the World Cup with people all over the world, such as the lyrics ‘Come with me’.

Earlier on the same day, Big Hit Music, the agency of BTS, announced through its official SNS that Jungkook would perform the official soundtrack “Dreamers” at the opening ceremony of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. 

Along with the digital release, Big Hit Music said, “We ask for a lot of interest from fans for Jungkook standing on the stage of the World Cup opening ceremony.”
