BTS Jung-kook and Lee Yoo-bi’s dating news is “groundless rumor,” why is Big Hit Music doing nothing?
Another clickbaiting dating rumor regarding the BTS members spread. This time, it’s a romance rumor between BTS Jung-kook and Lee Yoo-bi.
Lee Yoo-bi‘s agency, Y-Bloom, said on the news on December 27th that “the rumor that Lee Yoo-bi and Jungkook are dating is groundless.” On the other hand, BTS‘s agency Big Hit Music did not make any official position on rumors of Jung-kook’s romantic relationship with Lee Yoo-bi.
This rumor started on Youtube after a YouTuber posted a video on December 23rd showing evidence that Jung-kook and Lee Yoo-bi were dating. This YouTuber claimed that Jung-kook and Lee Yoo-bi wore couple t-shirts and couple bracelets, and that their so-called Lovestagram was evident on their personal Instagram (SNS).
It is not the first time this YouTuber has spread dating rumors regarding the BTS members. Earlier on November 30th, this account claimed that BTS member Ji-min was dating Lovelyz member Jung Ye-in. Especially, regarding the member V, for a total of 4 times on October 14th, December 6th, 7th, and 21st, this Youtuber claimed that V was dating the daughter of Jeon Phillip, chairman of Paradise Group and Choi Yoon-jung, chairman of the Paradise Cultural Foundation.
In a related development, BTS agency Big Hit Music denied V’s rumored romantic relationship on October 14th, saying, “They are only acquaintances.” Member V has also directly expressed his position regarding this YouTuber. On December 20th, when a netizen posted a capture of the YouTuber’s video on the BTS fan community platform Weverse, V said, “Oh? Let’s proceed with the complaint process. Gonna receive some money for a little snack. They even touched my family and friends. Good bye,” he replied.
V said, “I just saw it briefly, and not only us but all artists hate that kind of person. All the fans and ARMY may or may not have watch it, but I will file a complaint on behalf of those who were hurt and those who don’t have the courage to do so,” he added. In another fan’s comment, “Don’t mind such malicious posts,” he said, “Of course. I have a strong mentality like Suga,” he replied.
The YouTuber is a so-called “Cyberrecka” (collectively referred to as a YouTuber who collects views by posting videos related to issues online as clickbait), from whom rumors related to many idol singers as well as BTS members are being produced and distributed as if they were true.
Meanwhile, Big Hit Music, the agency of BTS, is suing netizens who infringe on the rights of their artists quarterly on charges of defamation and insults. The BTS’s agency said in September, “We are taking regular legal action against malicious postwriters containing defamation, insults, sexual harassment, false information, and malicious slander against BTS.”
They say there is no agreement or leniency. The agency emphasized, “We will continue to take stern measures against civil and criminal acts so that people with malicious intention can face strong legal punishment in the future, and there is no agreement or leniency in any case as before.”
