Conflict within the Black Pink fandom is culminating.
Recently, Blinks (Black Pink’s fandom) couldn’t help shocked and disgusted at the rumor that a Lisa’s fan is urgently seeking to kill Jennie. This information comes from an Instagram account named @lalisa_ot1. The account consistently posted horrendously edited pictures of Jennie and expressed the desire to come to Korea and find Jennie to kill.
While many personal accounts and fan pages have expressed anger over this action as well as told Blinks to send reports of the incident to YG Entertainment, the public seems to be rather apathetic. This reminds everyone of how fiercely Blinks reacted when Lisa was also threatened to be killed by antifans.
When the news of Lisa receiving death threats spred out, the fans dragged each other into Yang CEO’s Instagram showing deep concern in the comment section, creating a media wave that even hit the press. On the other hand, even when the threats to Jennie had broke out for a few days, the fans seemed to be rather indifferent when the number of articles on this topic on social networks and media was extremely small. This provoked much resentment for Jennie’s fans, but it was also explained that Lisa’s international fan base was so large that it was easy to take over the social network.
Another thing that makes fans angry is that this antifan account constantly shows that the account owner is a fan of Lisa. However, as the antifan words were inconsistent when they said they want Black Pink with three members but also said they would kill the group except Lisa, many people speculate that maybe this person is an antifan of Lisa and wants to cause internal divisions over the fandom and giving irrational hatred towards Lisa.
The fact that popularity goes with mixed opinions is not uncommon in the showbiz, but the incident of one member being threatened with death by the fans of another member can be only caught at the case of the current Kpop top girl group. Black Pink’s explosive reputation is like a double-edged sword, and many fear that it will not only affect the fandom’s internal unity, but also can cause adverse effect to the relationship between idols.
