Jisoo of BLACKPINK has set a new record for Korean female solo artists, with her solo album selling 1.17 million copines in the 1st week.
According to Hanteo Chart on April 7th, Jisoo’s first solo album “ME’” sold a total of 1,172,351 copies from March 31st to April 6th.
This is the second highest first-week sales for a Korean female artist, following BLACKPINK’s full album “BORN PINK’” (1.54 million), and the highest record for a K-pop female soloist.
In addition, the LP version for “ME” has not been released yet and was not included in the tally. Considering the album’s pre-order volume exceeded 1.31 million copies and BLACKPINK’s leading role in the global music market, the final sales volume is expected to grow even more.
Jisoo is not only dominating in album sales but also has a strong presence on various global charts.
In particular, her title track “FLOWER” topped the iTunes album charts in 64 countries, including the United States. The song also entered the sixth place, the highest ranking for K-pop female soloists, on Spotify, and maintained top rankings on Korean charts, showcasing its powerful music power.
Meanwhile, BLACKPINK, which Jisoo is a part of, is proving their insane impact with the ongoing “BLACKPINK WORLD TOUR [BORN PINK]”, which attracts about 1.5 million audiences.
In addition, the girl group will perform as headliners at the US’s Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in April and the UK’s Hyde Park British Summer Time Festival in July.
