ARMYs recently brought back Lizzo’s joke about BTS when she listened to “Boy With Luv” in 2019.
BTS made headlines after attending Harry Styles’s concert “Love On Tour” on November 19th (local time). 4 BTS members, including J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook, were caught dancing and enjoying the concert enthusiastically at The Forum stadium in Los Angeles, the U.S. They came to cheer for the former member of One Direction – Harry Styles.
Apart from the interactions between BTS and Harry Styles, the meeting of BTS members and the female singer Lizzo also attracted keen attention. The 4 members of BTS greeted Lizzo, then they chatted in a friendly atmosphere and even took photos with each other. When Harry Styles performed “What Makes You Beautiful”, Lizzo even came to where BTS members were sitting then enjoyed the stage together.
Many ARMYs have positive reactions to the interactions of BTS and Lizzo, and are even looking forward to the collab of the two sides. However, besides the positive comments, some fans felt uncomfortable. The reason is because Lizzo once made a sex-joke towards BTS.
In 2019, Lizzo reacted to BTS‘s song “Boy With Luv” when participating in CBC Music’s Jam or Not a Jam game. This is also the first time that the female singer listens to a song by Big Hit’s boy group. After listening to half of the song “Boy With Luv”, Lizzo was excited by Suga’s rap part. She praised it as an “awesome” song, but added a few sex-jokes that sparked controversy among BTS‘ fans
Lizzo said: “This song is so sexy. You better turn off the song, I’m pregnant!”. Later, when asked if she wanted to collaborate with BTS, Lizzo replied: “I don’t know if I can make it through those studio sessions without having sex with all of them.”
Although Lizzo insists she was joking, some BTS fans still think that this joke is not culturally appropriate for Asians. Therefore, to the great interaction between Lizzo and BTS members, many people have thought back to the past incident.
