An ironic achievement: BLACKPINK’s MV was defeated by the choreography video

Fans can only laugh when BLACKPINK’s music video was surpassed by its own performance version.

On June 26, 2020, BLACKPINK released the music video for their song “How You Like That”, which gained 86.3 million views in 24 hours, and immediately broke 3 Guinness records. At the moment, the MV has surpassed 1 billion views, making “How You Like That” one of BLACKPINK’s most successful songs.

The good reception even prompted YG to drop another video – the choreography version of “How You Like That”, which eventually led to an ironic situation.

In particular, this dance performance video gained great attention, and eventually gained over 1 billion views as well, surpassing… the original MV.

Netizens can’t help but laugh at the entire situation. Here are some of their comments:

  • YG… don’t bother making official MVs anymore, just drop choreography videos.
  • Imagine investing all that money and time into making the MV just for fans to watch BLACKPINK dancing in front of a pick screen instead.
  • The MV of “How You Like That” only gains 3 million views a week… while the performance video gains about 8 million.. So ironic
