The reaction of BIG BANG and YG’s fan after watching the “Flower Road” cover stage of Dahyun (TWICE), Moonbyul (MAMAMOO), Bomi (Apink) and Eunha (GFRIEND) were quite harsh.
SBS Gayo Daejun 2018 – a much anticipated year-end music festival happened todayy. With an incredible line-up, extravagant performances along with many special collaboration stages between idols, the music festival always leaves a deep impression.
However, a special stage at SBS Gayo Daejun this year burdened fans even before the show. There was even a debate happening on SNS, creating a trending tag asking SBS to cancel this collaboration.
It was the performance of 4 female idols Dahyun (TWICE), Moonbyul (MAMAMOO), Bomi (Apink) and Eunha (GFRIEND) singing a cover of BIG BANG’s “Flower Road”.
The reason why V.I.Ps and many YG fans dislike this performance is because this song is a present to fans before all the BIG BANG members enlisted in the army. BIG BANG haven’t sing this song live anywhere except for Seungri who performed by himself at his solo concert to represent his team thanking their fans for going with them through out the career.
So when the 4 girls cover this song at SBS Gayo Daejun, it lost the meaning of the song. Not to mention, this cover wasn’t entirely good …
And indeed, the fan’s anger rose after the performance has aired. Although Dahyun, Moonbyul, Bomi, and Eunha are all pretty, they cover “Flower Road” and people didn’t even realize the original.
The song of a male group has now changed to a female voice. It originally is a meaningful song to give fans full of love, but 4 girls from 4 different groups cover it and they failed to convey the love of the song. Just like that
… This performance was fiercely bashed by Big Bang fans, YG fans, and Kpop fans in general.
Covers always never pass the originals. But what makes fans angry here is that they choose the one song that Big Bang made for fans, a song that is very meaningful to fans that Big Bang has never performed once.
Many thanks were sent to the cover artists, but they will probably receive a dozen criticism after this performance because Big Bang is already a statue in performing …
This performance makes Big Bang fans angry, which is also understandable. SBS has chosen the wrong song to cover this time. Even though they probably have a good idea of reminding the fans of Big Bang!
