aespa’s ‘NEXT LEVEL’ is a remake of a Fast & Furious OST?

Latest news about aespa surprised many fans.  However, it also caused a huge controversy on social networks

Recently, SM’s rookie group aespa is preparing to return with a new song called “Next Level”.  Since the image and teaser were released, netizens believe that this will be an attractive song.

However, recently, many netizens believe that aespa’s upcoming new single called “Next Level” is a remake of the soundtrack in the famous 2019 movie “Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw”.  Reportedly, the original song of “Hobbs & Shaw” is also called “Next Level”, performed by A$ton Wyld.

The following are comments from the online community about this incident:

  • “I don’t know how to think about this! The song sounds good but why did SM let aespa do a remake song? I understand that they have a good concept, so aespa could better sing an original song.”
  • “SM hasn’t confirmed, everything is just a rumor.”
  • “It’s really normal, especially for SM. Super Junior’s debut song is a remake, so are SHINee’s ‘Juliette’, SNSD’s ‘Run Devil Run’.  Companies buy and remake songs all the time but you don’t usually know the original so you don’t realize it’s happening.”
