Girlgroup aespa will remake their SM senior group S.E.S.’s hit song “Dreams Come True” through the “Remastering Project.”
On the morning of November 4th, SM Entertainment (hereinafter referred to as SM) and YouTube held a live press conference to announce “Remastering Project,” through which the two companies will remake and re-release K-pop music videos, which have been loved by many over the past decades, with image quality suitable for nowadays digital platforms.
Announcer Park Sun-young was the MC at the conference, and SM CEO Lee Sung-soo, aespa members Karina, Giselle, and YouTube executive director Lee Sun-jung were the ones who officially announced the launch of the Remastering Project. In addition, they talked about the background, process, and future plans of the project.
First of all, the project will introduce more than 300 “remastered” music videos and audios through collaboration with YouTube. “Remastering Project” officially began this morning with H.O.T.’s Descendants of Warriors. K-pop artists such as S.E.S., Shinhwa, Fly to the Sky, and BoA will release music videos and music through SM Town and SM Station ‘s YouTube channels.
aespa, who participated in the special remake content, including the audio and music video of S.E.S’ hit song “Dreams Come True,” expressed their feelings.
“I have been listening and singing to S.E.S.’ songs ever since I was a kid. It is an honor for us to be able to sing the songs of S.E.S. seniors in aespa’s color. We were touched when we saw Bada’s cover video of ‘NEXT LEVEL’, and I thought I should work harder through this project,” Karina said with a smile.
Giselle then confessed her concerns during the remastering process, “Through this opportunity, we will try to bring attention back to the original song as well as our remake version.”
When asked about their feelings if later, junior artists start to cover their videos and contents, Karina and Giselle said, “We still cannot imagine it.”
Karina said, “It doesn’t feel real yet. However, I think it would be so pretty and grateful if junior singers covered aespa’s songs and videos 20 years later”, she said with a smile.
Giselle then said, “Honestly, I cannot imagine it yet because we are still a rookie who haven’t even reached our 1st anniversary. If my juniors sing aespa songs, I think I’ll really enjoy watching it and talk to them a lot. Overall, I think I’ll be proud.”
Finally, aespa expressed their confidence in their upcoming remake version of S.E.S’s “Dreams Come True”, raising fans’ expectations.
