Girl group aespa set new records with their new album.
According to the agency SM Entertainment and the album sales counting site Hanteo Chart on May 15th, the first week sales of the third mini album “MY WORLD” released by aespa on May 8th recorded 1,698,784 copies.
It sold about 570,000 copies more than its previous work. aespa’s second mini album “Girls” released in July last year ranked 4th in K-pop girl group history with 1.12 million copies sold in the first week.
aespa broke record for highest first week sales among K-pop girl groups with their new album. The previous No.1 was 1.54 million copies of BLACKPINK’s second full-length album “BORN PINK” released in September last year.
aespa’s new album also ranked first among SM Entertainment’s singers. The previous No.1 was NCT 127’s 4th full-length album “2 Baddies” (1.54 million copies) released in September last year.
The new album “MY WORLD” is an album that opens the second chapter of aespa’s worldview. It contains a new story of aespa, who came to the real world from Kwangya. The title song “Spicy” is a dance song with lively voices on top of a strong guitar performance, expressing aespa’s fresh charm.
