Right after the release, “Love Shot” of EXO got into the controversy of plagiarizing the US-UK hit “Back To You”.

However, at the time the controversy got heated, SM didn’t made any official announcement or action regarding this matter. Not until Jan 24th 2019 did SM suddenly added name of the One Direction ex-member and other producers of “Back To You” into the credit of “Love Shot” on both domestic and international platforms.
According to netizens, SM just partly admitted the similarity between 2 songs. After such a long time without any action, SM was forced to add “Back To You”’s producer name to the credit to avoid any accusation of plagiarism and to respect the original producer.
This is not the first time a situation like this happened in K-Pop. Pledis had to add Andrew Taggart (The Chainsmoker) and other Coldplay member to the credit of “Don’t Wanna Cry” from Seventeen after a controversy broke out accusing Seventeen of plagiarizing “Something Just Like This”.
