Actresses who lead “Island” and “Trolley” after Seo Ye Ji and Kim Sae Ron dropped out

“Island” and “Trolley”, which were controversial due to actor replacement issues, are set to be released this month.

Instead of Seo Ye Ji and Kim Sae Ron, who were embroiled in various private life controversies, Lee Da Hee and Jung Soo Bin have been cast to lead “Island” and “Trolley”, respectively.

SBS’s new Monday-Tuesday drama “Trolley” will be broadcast as a follow-up to “Cheer Up”. It tells about the wife of a politician who lived quietly hiding her past. Derived from the “trolley dilemma”, which refers to the state when you have to make one decision in an extreme situation where you can’t tell what is right or wrong, the drama title delicately and densely captures the inner sides of its characters, who are confused in front of options without answers.

Actress Jung So Bin plays Kim Soo Bin, who lives in a group home due to her parent’s divorce. This character considers her survival and safety the top priorities and will cause a stir after getting closely intertwined with the married couple Kim Hye Joo (Kim Hyun Joo) and Nam Joong Do (Park Hee Soon).

The role of Kim Soo Bin was previously taken by Kim Sae Ron. However, Kim Sae Ron caused a drunk driving accident in May, right ahead of the filming for “Trolley”. As a result, she dropped out of “Trolley, and was edited out of Netflix’s “Bloodhounds”. Since then, Kim Sae Ron has spent time reflecting on her wrongdoings and compensating the stores that suffered losses from the power outage caused by her accident. The young actress recently parted ways with her agency.

“Trolley”, starring Jung Soo Bin instead of Kim Sae Ron, is raising viewers’ expectations by releasing a series of still cuts, teaser videos, and posters. Attention is also focused on Jung Soo Bin’s performances alongside experienced actors.

TVing’s original series “Island”, which has been scheduled to premiere on December 30th, is also stimulating drama fans’ curiosity by unveiling teasers, posters, and also still cuts of Lee Da Hee, who takes on the role of Won Mi Ho.

Based on a webtoon of the same name by Yoon In Wan and Yang Kyung Il, “Island” depicts the journey of the characters whose destiny is to fight against evil that is trying to destroy the world. Lee Da Hee will appears as Won Mi Ho, the heiress of the world-renowned Conglomerate Daehan Group and a fixed-term teacher. As a person who has everything, from appearance to money and ability, many people think Won Mi Ho only enjoys the wealthy life of a golden spoon. However, she actually suffers malicious media attention every day. Going to Jeju Island due to an unexpected incident, Won Mi Ho gets attacked by monsters that she has never seen before and becomes involved in a huge incident.

In fact, Won Mi Ho’s character was revised completely before the shooting began. It is because actress Seo Ye Ji, who was the first to receive the casting offer, withdrew from the project due to controversies over school violence, forgery of educational background, abuse of power, and gaslighting of her ex-boyfriend. As a result, the writer had to change the script, which was previously written to reflect Seo Ye Ji’s personality and voice tone. The shooting schedule was also delayed due to Seo Ye Ji’s scandal.

Replacing Seo Ye Ji, Lee Da Hee, who proved her stable acting through “The Beauty Inside”, “Search: WWW”, and “L.U.C.A.: The Beginning”, was cast. In the still cuts released by “Island” production team on December 6th, Lee Da Hee attracts attention with her luxurious visual as Won Mi Hoo that gives off a modern and sophisticated atmosphere.
