On Oct 26th, the Financial Services Commission held a ceremony to celebrate the 6th “Financial Day” at Post Tower, Myeong-dong, Seoul and awarded medals as well as commendations to a total of 176 people.  

On this day, Song Joong-ki received the Presidential Citation in the savings – investment category. 

Song Joong-ki has consistently donated to help children with childhood cancer since he participated in the Yellow Ribbon Campaign in 2011 and formed a relationship with the Korea Childhood Leukemia Foundation.

While serving in the military in 2015, he donated 100 million won to UNICEF to relieve damage caused by the Nepal earthquake.

In 2016, Song Joong-ki contributed 20 million won to the International Center for Peace and Human Rights for “comfort women”. 

In 2019, the actor donated 100 million won to Hope Bridge to overcome COVID-19. 

In 2020, Song Joong-ki sponsored 30 million won for residents of the forest fire-affected areas in Gangwon-do and 50 million won for victims of the localized torrential downpours.

In January this year, he also donated 100 million won to provide cold protection supplies to all the medical staff working at the COVID-19 screening clinic.

Song Joong-ki was able to receive the Presidential Citation in recognition of his contributions to society through such donation activities.

Meanwhile, actor Joo Won received a commendation from the Prime Minister.

He was recognized for contributing to the spread of a healthy savings culture by continuing donations and volunteer activities for neglected children, COVID-19 medical workers as well as savings habits he had learned before debuting as a celebrity.
