Hellbound” is a Netflix series about a supernatural phenomenon in which people are sentenced to hell without notice and a revival of a religious group called  ‘New Truth Society‘ along with those who want to reveal the reality of the incident.

The released trailer shows the scenes where people are sent to hell and shocks the viewers from its beginning. The scene where Park Jung-ja (Kim Shin-rok), who was suddenly sentenced to hell by an angel at her birthday, leaves not only the character but also viewers in shock and fear.

Subsequently, the chilly narration of Chairman Jeong Jin-soo (Yoo Ah-in), who preaches the will of God over the chaotic world, doubles the tension of the trailer. Contrary to Chairman Jeong Jin-soo, who claims that supernatural phenomena are God’s warning to sinful humans and fear will free people from sin, the world falls into more and more uncontrollable chaos ahead of the live broadcast of Park Jung-ja being sent to hell.

People doubt and hate each other, and therefore turn the world into another hell. Jeong Jin-soo‘s line, “Welcome to the new world,” foretells an unpredictable story to be unfolded in a chaotic world.

Hellbound,” which tells the story of people sent to hell in an unimaginable way, is based on a popular webtoon of the same name. Director Yeon Sang-ho, who sharply dug into the uncertainties and absurdities of modern society in each of his works, from “The King of Pigs”, “Pseudoreligion”, to “Train to Busan,” “Peninsula”, and “The Cursed: Dead Man’s Prey,” participated in the entire process from webtoon planning and screenplay to series production.

Hellbound” will be exclusively released worldwide through Netflix on November 19.
