On Dec 18th, tvN’s “Bulgasal: Immortal Souls” will air its 1st episode. The drama depicts a sad but beautiful story in which Dan-hwal (Lee Jin-wook), who has become an invincible, immortal creature that mortals cannot kill, pursues Min Sang-woon (Kwon Na-ra), who has been repeating reincarnation for 600 years.

In the recently released teaser, Dan-hwal was walking alone in a modern city alley before suddenly changing into a military officer who was engaged in numerous wars, wearing armor.

The person he was gazing at was Min Sang-woon who said to him, “I’ve been looking for you for so long.”

When Min Sang-woon turned around and noticed Dan Hwal was approaching her, she changed into her previous appearance 600 years ago.

Those who saw the teaser expressed great expectations for the drama, as well as recalling tvN’s hit drama “Goblin” which aired in 2016-2017.

Goblin” is a mysterious romantic tale that takes place when a goblin (Gong Yoo) needs to find his human bride to end his immortal life met a girl (Kim Go-eun) who claims to be his “goblin bride”, and a death angel (Lee Dong-wook) who started living with him.

The two dramas are said to be similar as they both deals with the theme of immortality, previous life and reincarnation.

Netizens are giving various reactions, saying, “This is like “Goblin” season 2,” “It would be fun to watch like “Goblin”,” “What’s the difference between this and “Goblin”?”

Since the success of “Goblin”, many works have been produced on tvN, dealing with the same themes such as “Hotel Del Luna” and “Tale of the Nine Tailed”.

With the fact that most of the mentioned dramas have performed well, the public is focused on how “The Immortal” will turn out as their total production cost is reportedly more than 40 billion won for 16 episodes.
