After fans repeatedly expressed concern about Beomhan’s being in danger during his overseas vacation, his agency finally gave an official response.
Beomhan is known as a Chinese-American trainee under FM Entertainment. He is currently a member of the boy group that is preparing to debut M.O.N.T Arena. Last year, he had a tour in the US with male soloist Jay Chang (former contestant of the survival show “Under 19“). But after completing the tour and stopping by New York to rest, Beomhan had an unfortunate incident right in the US.
During the online broadcast on February 12th, Beomhan told the story of being attacked by a homeless man on the subway, “I put on headphones and sat on the subway with the staff. A homeless man walked in and started chatting with the people on the train. He pointed at me while talking to the people sitting across from him. He must have thought that I was wearing headphones so he couldn’t hear their conversation. He started talking about me with a bunch of derogatory words. However, after the joke was over, he asked me again if I had any change. After asking, he got closer to me and strangled me with his hand. His fingernails scratched my neck.”
After hearing Beomhan‘s story, fans were extremely worried, especially when the staff accompanying him were present but did not intervene when the attack happened. On February 28th, the male trainee’s management company – FM Entertainment gave an official response to the above incident: “We would like to inform you about the incident of being attacked on the subway by Beomhan, the trainee of the company. At the beginning of February after finishing his US performance schedule, Beomhan had a vacation in his hometown of New York. At this point, he was asked for money by a homeless man and verbally insulted.”
Through the announcement, the company also explained why the staff accompanying Beomhan did not stand up to protect their trainee at that time: “As mentioned in Beomhan’s live stream, an employee was also present at the scene because both were on vacation in New York. Unfortunately, this was an unexpected incident, and the staff did not have time to react to protect Beomhan. We are aware of the seriousness of the incident and the physical and emotional trauma Beomhan suffered. We are also trying to help him recover through treatment and counseling. We will make more efforts to protect our artists, to prevent such unintended incidents from happening again.”, FM Entertainment added. After the official announcement of the management company, fans can be more assured about Beomhan’s current situation.
