The photo is a screenshot of a video uploaded on by TikTok user A from Philippines. The video shows an object that looks like a MAMA (Mnet Asian Music Awards) trophy. A sad story related to that trophy was also revealed in the video.

According to A, her mother went to a thrift shop in the Philippines in 2020 and saw an old trophy. A’s mother bought the trophy with 200 pesos (about 4000 won) and brought it home. At first, A didn’t notice what it was. However, after becoming a K-pop fan, A was shocked to realized the identity of the trophy.

Looking closely at the video A released, this trophy was won by the boy group B.A.P at the 2012 Mnet Asian Music Awards (currently MAMA AWARDS). B.A.P received the trophy because they won Mnet PD’s Choice awards at that time.

Shocked by the story, Korean netizens reacted, “OMG…”, “Why did they sell it?”, “Please give it back to the members…”, “In the end, it turns out like that…”, “Oh my…”, “I felt bad for them”, “This makes me tear up”, “They sold it?”, “I’m sad knowing that’s the ending of a talented group…”, etc.

Speculations about the background story of why the trophy was sold and went all the way to the Philippines. Among them, the most popular guess is that B.A.P’s former agency TS Entertainment sold the trophy on the thrift shop after closing the company.

B.A.P is a six-member K-pop boy group that debuted in 2012. The group was loved for many hit songs, such as “1004”, “ONE SHOT”, “No Mercy”, etc. Appearing in the same generation as BTS and Block B, B.A.P once attracted keen attention and was expected to become one of the next-generation boy groups to contribute greatly to the future of K-pop.

B.A.P suspended their activities in 2014 after filing a lawsuit against their agency to terminate their exclusive contract. At that time, B.A.P claimed, “Since our debut in 2012, we have received a proper settlement of our profits even though we have been working with a ‘murderously’ tight schedule”. The following year, B.A.P and the agency agreed to resume their contract and activities, but their fandom was no longer the same as before.

In the end, B.A.P disbanded in February 2019. TS Entertainment reportedly closed its company in 2021.
