This Dutch station has produced a documentary with a malicious and negative view of K-pop. The problem is that they had done many rude actions towards some girl group members in the process.

Dutch broadcast station RTL and ‘Video Land’ recently released a documentary program called ‘Eout& the Tough K-pop World.’ It tells the story of K-pop which is currently extremely popular all over the world.

But what they did was more of a negative than a positive view about K-pop. “Korean idols take plastic surgery as a must“, “There is various kind of scandals” and “There are many cases of depression which lead to suicide“.

They also released very rude interview scenes without any editing. During a fansign event of the girl group GWSN, they suddenly pushed the microphone in front of the members and threw questions such as “Did you have plastic surgery?” and “Are you uncomfortable because you have a lot of schedules?”.

The members and staff were stunned. It was during a fan signing event where they are supposed to be communicating with their fans. The members could not answer any of the Dutch interviewer’s absurd questions (in Dutch) with their fans in front of them. They couldn’t do anything but awkwardly smile.

They didn’t even seem to know the basic rules of following the time at the fansign. They didn’t follow the order and just went up on stage and asked questions. Due to his, the fan signing event that day had to be delayed.

After the show, the agency ‘Kiwi Pop’ released an official entry. They said, “The reporters asked us at that time that they wanted to ‘make a documentary about K-Pop idol and sketch out the activities of a GWSN who is a promising K-pop girl group“.

The agency, of course, allowed the interviewers in order to promote the group abroad. But when the sketches started, their attitudes changed 180 degrees. He broke into the fan signing event without the staff’s consent and started the interview.

At the time, we stopped them from continuing their work, and we also agreed with each other to edit the scenes where staff members and fans were shown and to let the agency check the edited scenes which include GWSN before broadcasting, but we didn’t receive any prior contact to ask for consent or permission before the documentary was aired” Kiwi Pop said.

After checking the contents of the broadcast, I deeply regret that the distorted contents are different from the original intention of the agency and have damaged the image of GWSN“.

The agency said it is trying to contact the production team to find out the details. They also apologized to the fans who were hurt by this incident.

But this was not the only disrespectful act on the part of this documentary team. They aired footage of the funeral hall of the late Jong-hyun (SHINee) as the basis for their claim that “K-pop idols suffer from depression“. It is not known whether they would have been allowed by SHINee’s agency before the show.

The people who produced the documentary created the program with very rude and inaccurate information. The documentary didn’t highlight any good things about K-pop, and there was no accurate research,” the fan said. “I’m angry that a rubbish-like broadcast like this is on air all over the country“.
