Miyazono Rena, a member of Japanese idol group Dress Code, was officially removed from the group on November 14—barely 8 hours after a dating photo began circulating on social media.

Dress Code, under the umbrella of imaginate’s girl group collective HEROINES, debuted on September 21, 2024, with their first live performance following on November 26, 2024. Despite being a newcomer, Rena was already gaining attention for her role within the group.

However, early on November 14, a popular social media account notorious for leaking idol scandals shared a tweet showing a masked woman—allegedly Rena—walking alongside a man. The image was attached to a post where Rena had shared news about another member’s exit. The implication and timing were enough to spark widespread speculation.

The photo rapidly gained traction, surpassing 20 million views in just hours. By that evening, HEROINES’ management released an official statement announcing Rena’s immediate expulsion, citing a “serious violation of contract” without further elaboration.
No clarification was given regarding the content of the breach, but fans quickly linked it to the viral photo. The group’s schedule will reportedly proceed as planned, with no delays due to the controversy.
This abrupt dismissal highlights the strict expectations idol groups often face regarding personal conduct, particularly dating, which remains a controversial and heavily scrutinized topic in the Japanese entertainment industry.
