6 webtoon-based dramas that have confirmed production or will premiere soon

These webtoons will be introduced to viewers in the form of dramas this year. 

The number of dramas with stories from webtoons is increasing. Some webtoon-based dramas have already been completed and are set to air, while many are still in production.

1. Mask Girl

“Mask Girl” is a thriller. It tells the story that happens when Kim Mo Mi (Go Hyun Jung/ Na Na), who has an inferiority complex about her appearance, gets caught up in an incident while working as an Internet broadcast BJ every night. The drama will be released on Netflix in the third quarter of 2023.

2. Bloodhounds

“Bloodhounds” depicts the story of three young men who get tangled up with great forces while trying to win back the store that has been taken away due to private loans. The webtoon was serialized on Naver in 2019 and completed with a total of 85 episodes.

Starring Woo Do Hwan, Lee Sang Yi, and Jung Dae Eun, the drama version is expected to premiere on Netflix in the first half of 2023.

3. A Good Day to Be a Dog

A Good Day to Be a Dog

The webtoon “A Good Day to Be a Dog” by writer Lee Hye is about the romance between a woman who transforms into a dog every dawn and a man who is afraid of dogs. It was greatly loved and even ranked 1st on the rankings of Sunday webtoons.

Singer-actor Cha Eun Woo already confirmed his appearance as the male lead Jin Seo Won, while actress Park Kyu Young is reportedly reviewing the casting offer for the female lead role Han Hae Na.

4. High, Medium and Low

High, Medium and Low

The webtoon “High, Medium and Low” centers around triplets with different lives (a chaebol, an office worker, and an unemployed person) finding out about each other’s existence and confronting each other to rise to the upper class.

Director Bae Jong, who produced “Welcome to Dongmakgol” and “Fabricated City”, will take the megaphone for the drama, which is currently in the casting and planning stages.

5. Blood for Blood

“Blood for Blood” tells about the main character, who was trained as a South Korean spy, taking revenge for his dead mother and sister against the enemies who are honored as “unification heroes” in the unified Korean country after 8 years of being abandoned in North Korea. 

6. Chicken Nugget

Chicken Nugget

“Chicken Nugget” is a comedy webtoon about those who die or go missing after getting involved in a mysterious machine that turns people into chicken nuggets. The drama version will have 12 episodes.

Directed and scripted by “Extreme Job” director Lee Byeong Hoon, it stars actors Ryu Seung Ryong, Ahn Jae Hong, and Kim Yoo Jung.
