The following Korean actors used to be symbols of the Hallyu wave, but now they are struggling to regain their glorious days.

The Korean industry has seen many actors that blow up to become A-list stars after just one role. However, not all Korean celebrities are capable of maintaining their popularity over the years. Besides those who work hard but still fail to make a name for themselves, there are many Korean actors who get boycotted due to all kinds of scandals.

1. Yoon Eun Hye

Yoon Eun Hye was once known as the “Hallyu queen” when continuously being cast as the female lead in two hit dramas Princess Hours and Coffee Prince.  However, when she started turning to fashion, Yoon Eun Hye’s career began to witness a downfall because of the scandal over plagiarism. When accused of stealing ideas, the Korean actress not only denied but also said that the designer was using her fame to promote their collection. Yoon Eun Hye’s attitude has made the public turn their backs on her. Yoon Eun Hye even used to be called the most hated actress in Korea.

2. Goo Hye Sun

Goo Hye Sun used to be a hit throughout Asia thanks to her role as Geum Jan Di in the TV blockbuster Boys Over Flowers. However, none of the following dramas she starred in, such as Angel Eyes and Blood, received positive responses. Particularly, her acting performances were severely criticized.

3. Yoon Shi Yoon

Referring to Korean stars reaching their peak of success the fastest, Yoon Shi Yoon must be mentioned. The actor became a star by starring in the national drama ‘Bread, Love and Dreams’ with ratings up to 50%. However, because ‘Bread, Love and Dreams’ was so successful, Yoon Shi Yoon’s later works could not be compared in terms of ratings with it.

5. Kim Hyun Joong

Similar to Goo Hye Sun, the national sub-lead male actor Kim Hyun Joong is also famous thanks to ‘Boys Over Flowers’. Thanks to that, he was fortunate to become the male lead in a number of films such as ‘Playful Kiss’, ‘Inspiring Generation’. His career was going up so fast and then the incident when his ex-girlfriend filed a lawsuit against Kim Hyun Joong on the grounds of assault causing bruises and broken ribs. Coupled with a years-long legal battle came the demise of a rising star’s career.
