K-Drama

2 ongoing K-dramas praised for story and acting but only record viewership ratings of 1%

These two dramas are well-made, but record extremely low ratings.

If You Wish Upon Me” and “Mental Coach Jegal” are two ongoing dramas that are performing poorly in terms of viewership ratings even though they receive positive reviews for both story and acting. Both dramas have sadly reached their lowest ratings of about 1%

If You Wish Upon Me

“Mental Coach Jegal” marks the return to the small screen of “Squid Game” breakout star Lee Yoo Mi in her first lead role. Lee Yoo Mi once again proves her acting talent and charm in “Mental Coach Jegal”, but the drama still fails to generate buzz.

In “Mental Coach Jegal”, Lee Yoo Mi plays Cha Ga Eul, a short-track speed skater. She was a gold medalist at the world championships, but is now in a slump. Things took a turn for Cha Ga Eul when she met Jegal Gil (Jung Woo), a former member of the national Taekwondo team, but due to an unprecedented incident, he got banned from competing. Jegal Gil now works as a mental coach. His job is to help athletes emotionally.

Mental Coach Jegal

Despite having great potential, the healing sports-themed drama “Mental Coach Jegal” only earned ratings of 1.5 – 2.3% after 4 episodes. Having a similarly comforting and meaningful plot, “If You Wish Upon Me” ratings also dropped to only 1.6%. The drama, starring the trio Sung Dong Il – Ji Chang Wook – Sooyoung, is set in a hospice where the staff’s job is to fulfill dreams for those who are facing death.
