Yong Jun-hyung Explains Burning Sun Allegations, “Watched Video From Jung Joon-young But Did Not Join Any Group Chat”

Ex-HIGHLIGHT Yong Jun-hyung directly explained the allegations of his involvement in the Burning Sun Scandal

On the morning of June 12th, Yong Jun-hyung released a long post on his personal SNS account, saying “I was definitely so stupid and wrong at that time”.

Explaining the reason he left HIGHLIGHT, Yong Jun-hyung said, “While being surrounded by criticism, I couldn’t correct the wrong situation and did not know what the right choice was. I was scared and didn’t want to cause damage to the company and the members with my issue. In the end, I decided to leave despite knowing that I would lose everything I had built in such a precious place that I considered everything to me for many years”.

Regarding the Burning Sun Scandal, he said, “He sent me a video with a black screen without explanation via individual message so I pressed it. I didn’t know what the video was about or what his intention was until I watched the video”, adding “After seeing the video, I could have said, ‘Stop this. This is very wrong’, but I failed to become a person who could say such things and just lightly ignored it”.

However, he once again drew a line, saying “But I never entered any group chat or got involved in the incident that I didn’t even want to mention with my mouth”.

Confessing his unfairness, Yong Jun-hyung said, “Over the past years, many people and the media have been saying that I was one of the perpetrators in the case, like ‘ He was a member of the group chat’, or ‘He consumed illegal videos’, etc.”, adding “I already spoke up about things that were not true, but still ended up benign named as one of those people even though I had nothing to do with them. I didn’t have the courage to bring up past issues and talk about it again, so I just turned a blind eye to it and let it pass”.

Lastly, he said, “Even if it hurts me and leaves scars in my heart, I will try to hold myself back and endure everything. I hope that everyone, including my family and the people I love and care about as well as my fans, who are supporting the lacking me, will not get hurt”, adding “I will reflect deeply on things I couldn’t correct in the past as well as my foolish actions and words, and try to become more mature every day”.

Earlier when the Burning Sun Scandal broke out in 2019, it was belatedly revealed that Jung Joon-young sent Yong Jun-hyung illegally filmed videos in 2015. Back then, Yong Jun-hyung denied the allegations of his involvement in the Burning Sun Scandal but still withdrew from HIGHLIGHT.

At that time, Yong Jun-hyung said on his personal SNS account, saying “While participating in the investigation as a witness, I was able to see exactly what conversations I had in the past and couldn’t help but feel so ashamed of myself”, adding “I don’t want to cause more damage to fans and the members so I will leave HIGHLIGHT as of March 14th, 2019”.
