Viewers Complain About “Queen Of Tears” Unreasonable Development Ahead Of Final Broadcasts

There are only two episodes left until the drama ends, “Queen of Tears” still aroused viewers’ frustration due to its development

On April 21st, tvN’s Sat-Sun drama “Queen of Tears” showed Hong Hae-in (Kim Ji-won) undergoing brain surgery despite the possibility of losing memories as a side effect.

Hong Hae-in believed that losing her memories was like losing her life already so she agonized over whether to undergo surgery or not throughout the last two episodes. To protect his wife, Baek Hyun-woo (Kim Soo-hyun) even boasted about his irrelevant achievements just to persuade Hong Hae-in to have surgery.

Knowing that the drama wanted to emphasize the preciousness of memories and how desperate their love was, in the process, viewers couldn’t help but feel embarrassed by the development of Baek Hyun-woo provoking Hong Hae-in by bringing up their honeymoon memories and suddenly attracting attention from women around him at the hotel’s restaurant.

In addition, the part that frustrated viewers the most was the situation after Hong Hae-in underwent surgery. While his wife was waiting for him after the surgery, Baek Hyun-woo was suddenly caught by Interpol due to Yoon Eun-sung (Park Sung-hoon)’s scheme. Waking up after the surgery, the only three letters Hong Hae-in remembered were Baek Hyun-woo’s name. What’s worse was that Yoon Eun-sung introduced himself to Hong Hae-in as her longtime lover since their college days. Moreover, he even told Hong Hae-in that Baek Hyun-woo was a stalker and wrapped bandages around his hands to imitate Baek Hyun-woo’s injuries.

In response to the unexpected development, viewers poured anger, saying “What a frustrating story”, “Who is the writer? I need to talk to them”, “The drama will end next week but why are they still pulling out such nonsense development?”, “Stop causing more trouble, Yoon Eun-sung”, etc.

Criticized due to predictable clichés from the beginning, “Queen of Tears” has managed to attract a lot of viewers and create a sensation thanks to the actors’ outstanding acting performances. Although there are only 2 episodes left, many viewers still have so many questions, such as how Baek Hyun-woo will clear his name, when Yoon Eun-sung and Mo Sul-hee (Lee Mi-sook) will face punishment for their misdeeds, how the love story of Hong Soo-cheol (Kwak Dong-yeon) and Cheon Da-hye (Lee Joo-bin) ends, and whether the relationship between Hong Beom-ja (Kim Jung-nan) and Yeong-song (Kim Young-min) will turn into romance. Some suspect the story may wrap up with an ending that cannot satisfy viewers.

Written by star writer Park Ji-eun, who wrote “My Love From The Star”, “Crash Landing on You”, etc., “Queen of Tears” tells about the romance of third-generation chaebol Hong Hae-in and her husband Baek Hyun-woo as they find love again after facing a crisis in the third year of their marriage.
