Production Team of “Queen of Tears” Criticized for Gatekeeping Kiss Scenes Between Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Ji-won 

Fans are growing increasingly frustrated with the production team of “Queen of Tears”, questioning if they wanted to keep these precious scenes all to themselves all this time. The undisclosed kissing scenes between Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Ji-won is creating much buzz online, belatedly capturing the attention of viewers.

On May 4th and 5th, the special episodes of “Queen of Tears” aired consecutively. Although the drama ended on April 28th, the production team prepared a special broadcast as the drama recorded the highest viewership ratings in tvN’s drama history. 

Even though Baek Hyun-woo and Hong Hae-in, portrayed by Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Ji-won, have bid farewell to the audiences, their poignant romance still lingers.

Especially since Baek Hyun-woo and Hong Hae-in completed their happy ending with the birth of their daughter, but the lack of deep kissing scenes throughout the drama left viewers disappointed. 

While the ending where the aged Baek Hyun-woo visits Hong Hae-in’s grave stirred mixed reactions, fans were particularly bitter about the fact that a passionate kiss, signature of the two main characters, was absent until the end.

However, it wasn’t that they didn’t shoot deep kiss scenes, they just didn’t air them. In the special episode 2, aired on May 5th, the production team unleashed a flood of undisclosed footage, captioning, “Exclusively on the ‘Queen of Tears’ special, the honeymoon kissing scenes that can only be seen here.” These were scenes filmed when Baek Hyun-woo and Hong Hae-in went on their honeymoon to Germany.

In the video, the two of them enjoyed a happy date, constantly exchanging kisses. Sometimes sweetly, sometimes shyly, sometimes passionately, they shared their love through kisses. Even though viewers already knew their ending, watching Hong Hae-in and Baek Hyun-woo exchanging affection so happily couldn’t help but bring a smile to their faces.

Perhaps that’s why. Viewers are now pouring out their frustration, saying that they’re only seeing these iconic kissing scenes now. If the kissing scenes had been revealed earlier, they would have sparked even more discussion and possibly raised the ratings. 

Thus, with the special episodes, “Queen of Tears” concluded its 390-day romance journey with the actors, writers, directors, staff, and viewers. While many memorable scenes, epilogues, behind-the-scenes episodes, and actors’ comments were impressive, the aftermath left by the undisclosed kissing scenes of the main couple is unlikely to settle easily.

The production team, who selfishly wanted to enjoy the precious kissing scenes of Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Ji-won alone, are facing fans’ disappointment.
