Photo Of ‘KAIST Professor’ G-Dragon Buying Bread In Daejeon Is AI Image?

It turns out that the photo of G-Dragon buying bread in Daejeon after appearing at KAIST as a professor is not real?

Recently, G-Dragon (Kwon Ji-yong) was appointed as a professor of mechanical engineering at KAIST’s Innovate Korea 2024 hosted by Herald Media Group at KAIST Ryu Keun-chul Sports Complex in Daejeon.

Later, a photo showing G-Dragon visiting Sungsimdang in Daejeon, where he attended KAIST Class, to buy bread spread widely in social media and became viral in online communities. However, the picture turns out to be created using AI technology, not an actual photo. The creator of this image is AI creator Ryan Ohsling.

Apart from the AI image of G-Dragon, Ryan Ohsling is also making AI images with humorous ideas such as making independence activists Ahn Jung-geun and Yoo Gwan-soon live in today’s life.

This AI creator is even working with the Ministry of Patriots and Veteran Affairs.

Creating a picture of actor Go Soo in a bowl of pho instead of cilantro (go-soo means ‘cilantro’ in Korean) with the funny caption, “Please take cilantro out of the pho”. In addition, issues attracting people’s attention such as Fubao, sleep therapy for people with insomnia, etc. also became ideas for his AI image production.

On Memorial Day, he presented images under the theme of “Korean heroes facing daily life today”, showing Ahn Jung-geun drinking whiskey with his friends after work or Yoo Gwan-soon eating tteokbokki after school.

These AI photos of Korean heroes eventually became connections between Ryan Ohsling and the Ministry of Patriots and Veteran Affairs. Currently, the AI creator is planning on AI content collaborating with the Ministry of Patriots and Veteran Affairs with a theme related to the Korean War.

With an investment of 26 million won, the event will be held through a public contest to gather public opinions and adopt ideas before Ryan Ohsling creates AI images. These pictures will be posted on the SNS channel of the Ministry of Patriots and Veteran Affairs later.

The Ministry of Patriots and Veteran Affairs stated, “The project aimed at encouraging the public, especially young generations, to recognize veterans in new and easier ways in celebration of the Patriots and Veterans Month”, adding “Our intention is to raise the awareness of the MZ Generation with high expectations that veterans can be appealed to the public through advanced technology”.
