No Big-name Cast yet K-drama “Hierarchy” Triumphs on Netflix’s Non-English Series?
The teen K-drama “Hierarchy” has topped Netflix’s non-English series viewership chart despite casting mostly rookies.
According to Netflix on June 19, the K-drama “Hierarchy” recorded 6.3 million views (calculated by dividing the total viewing time by the runtime) from the 10th to the 16th, making it the number one non-English TV series.
The series ranked in the top 10 in a total of 72 countries, including first place in Korea, Taiwan, Indonesia, Hong Kong, and the Philippines.

This is an extremely impressive result, especially when considering that the cast of “Hierarchy” mostly consist of rookie actors and actresses without big fandoms.
“Hierarchy” tells the story of a transfer student who enters Jushin High School, a school divided between the top 0.01% nobility and poor scholarship students. The student, harboring a secret, uncovers the truth behind a murder case. The show has received positive responses both internationally and domestically for its stylish and addictive teen scandal.

Additionally, the performances of actors Roh Jeong-eui, Lee Chae-min, Kim Jae-won, Ji Hye-won, and Lee Won-jung have been praised for vividly portraying the confusion and growth of children breaking free from the class system passed down from their parents.
Regarding this, Roh Jeong-eui said, “I am so happy that I can’t even think of what to say. I am grateful to everyone involved in ‘Hierarchy’, and I sincerely thank the viewers for allowing me to leave a record of being number one globally in my life.”
Meanwhile, Lee Chae-min added, “Receiving so much love makes me happy every day these days.”
